    Good bye little GTO

Say good bye to pontiac. How could GM screw up yhis bad. they had sold over 500,000 per year and from a low of apprximatel 250,000 last ear there down to abot 40,000.  Isn't Gm awake. Have they destryed a once mighty vehicle to an assemply of ineffective bolts.. I owned a Gran Prix in 97-98 and it was a model of power and beauty.  I becamr disabled or I would have it today. Within 2 yeas after I owned it the incompetencee, arrogance of the american car mar maher proceeded to bite themselves in the butt, making insip pontiac that even gradma would't buy. I am ashamed of of them and I am ashamed of myself for not writin them and explain , what was so obvious.  NOW foreign vehicles are living in a myth of superiority. They have advertised  and readvertised until we no longer believe that america doesn't make cars as good as them. Well hello, these foreign makers copied us.And we sat around with halff hearted attempts to compete withem so long as it didn't change their profits. ITS now or never...lets see some reag american styyling and some qualityy workmanship.  WRIT The american auto maker aand let's build value priced, dynamic cars like the long forgotten GTO.

    Presidential BS

Well how do we all like it! We had President Bush who was more concerned  with his image than he was in doig his job.,  So he was interested  in getting oil off the costal waters.  What has he been wating for-a big boy hug and nods of approval from the ghostly congress,  Well hello, we're going to hell in a hand basket. Lets seat back and give it all to china ,Mexico, Indonesia. Isn't china are Communist friends. We are making them a first world power while we buy all the material things we love at reduced 3rd world power rates.  We will soon be a 3rd world country. AND,We all know how we will be paid back!  We are chocking on every penny we  swallow.  Where's America stand on better quality? Oh look we have the Ford focus and Edge. Is this too little to late!!!   Should we start to learn Chinese.  I understand they would never attack a civilian: armed with deadly freedom of speech or yes, the attack tomatoes..  why are we letting our industry hand our jobs overseas and our financil  futre ,if we are, even ,left with one...HELLO is ANYBODY HOME??

    Talking about Disabled Travel

    Quote

    Disabled Travel

This is an open invitation to all disabled people. If any of my disabled folks are out there tell about your travel experiences. It so hard to find places with accessibility it would be helpful to know where, did you enjoy it and most importantly what accomodations did they make for you.

    FOUR HUSBANDS

Regardless of one's age, you simply should always plan ahead:

The local news station was interviewing an 80-year-old lady because she had
just gotten married -- for the fourth time.

The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like
to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation.

    FOUR HUSBANDS

'He's a funeral director,' she answered.
      'Interesting,' the newsman thought.

He then asked her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first
three husbands and what they did for a living.

She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years.
After a short time, a smile came to her face and she answered proudly,
explaining that she'd first married a banker when she was in her early 20's,
then a circus ringmaster when in her 40's, later on a preacher when in her
60's, and now in her 80's, a funeral director.

The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked why she had
married four men with such diverse careers.

She smiled and explained, 'I married one for the money, two for the show,
three to get ready, and four to go.'

    Getting ready to Travel

My wife an I recently went took the Princess Lines on an Ocean Cruise to the West Indies.

Traveling for us starts with the dread of the burdensome extra  packing. It kind of takes the fun out of going.First you have to have all your med's? Is there enough, bring some extras,( just in case). Pack up your slide board and 15lb battery. This is all planned in advance but since I have to use them daily before the trip I have to live  out of a traveling case until the day we leave. Oh we also have to carry a heavy duty orange extension cord in case the ship doesn't have one, or when we get on board we find that our arrangements with the cruise line she somehow  been forgotten and they have no appropriate extension cord.

My wife starts getting ready in March for our cruise in June. She packs for herself, which is laborious effort by itself,  but then she has to pack for me. Strange how in one year, clothes that fit me perfectly well somehow have shrunk. I pointed out to her that nobody notices what cripples wear any way.. But with her calm wifely insistence and long monologue on personal value; I feely justly chastised. I buy clothes that  fit me.They're all extra large  so that I can get them on by myself, any  smaller and I have too too much pain in my neck, shoulder and arms to put them on by myself. So looking good means wearing clothes probably 2 sizes too large. Forget about winning the best dressed of the year award. Finally having appropriate tent-size clothing , My wife as packs them as perfectly arranged coordinates. God forbid, I don't wear them as planned.

Now I have skipped all the good parts. My wife now has to  coordinate dozens of calls if not more , She has to be sure the room will be large enough for my wheelchair.. She get precise dimensions the wheelchair and the room then checks that the bathroom is large enough for the wheelchair. She ask about the toilet and for as seat riser ( the seat riser was great until in a bit of turbulence it disengaged quite gracefully from the toilet with me on it and we slid across the bathroom floor kind of sounding like a tire breaking on wet pavement. Luckily with the exception of a red bottom, I was no worse for wear. Needless to say I did not use it again.

My wife did not miss checking out the shower for accessibility . This is vital on any trips-no lip on the floor and a place in the shower that you can seat on and get easily in and out. Always be aware of a slippery floor. One day trying disembark from the shower I suddenly realized my feet were moving without me. My wife was ready though and she grabbed me, We did a little tango before the momentum I had achieved brought us both down. It wasn't a pretty sight  but we disentangled and all was well-the injuries I sustained were minor!

Well, I'm too tired to tell you more now. I fill you in on the cruise in my next poetin.Meanwhile writ bout your traveling experience, especially obstacles and how you enjoyed yourself  despite them.

    werre not all equal

Living in a wheelchair has been a pain in the butt for the past 7 years.
Not being able to go to a restauant destroys a meaningjul celebration, And it leaves my wife  as the cook, cleaner and bottle washer for our company..
I have good friends, for the time I have been in awheechair they have tried to find an affordableapartment that has disabled access, They finally did, And they gave up many larger places to accommodate me. I have been there 3 times and it has every thing, There is a pool,a small theatre, a billiard palor, and a gym with lockers and showers that I can use!
WE all have had to see a physician at on time or another. you wont believe whaat have gone through. One office had a 3-4 inch lip. After a little careless speeding  I was able to breach the step, and stop in time befor I hurt anything or anybody. I went to the landload,Doctor, and he turned his back on me and ran to hide in his office.

My primary Doctor's office had not auto door openrs and I had to complain for 6 yearbefor they were installed. Note that the building was rented by a hospital.
Well I could go on and on about limited  or no accessibilty but let me hear from you. Your experience may be painful but also helpful if you found a way to get a change, Amen to that.
    No pain with love,
    Frank
